Additional information

Hi Chloe, I was wondering as a minority what it is like in the flight deck and if you faced or currently face any challenges while being a pilot and when you trained to be a pilot? What is the flight deck environment like and do you ever feel isolated as a woman in aviation?

Hi Fabio

I don't think I have ever felt isolated. There are always people that you will get on better with and there will be some days when you work with people that share differing opinions than you, but I have never let this affect me. British Airways is a very diverse place to work and most of the people I have had the pleasure of working with are all very accepting.

I would be lying if I said I do not encounter different treatment from people on a daily basis, however it is rarely from crew. There is a lot of, sort of, subconscious sexism that us women feel; assuming we're cabin crew followed by looks of disbelief when we step into the flight deck. Generally speaking though, I am very happy that I work for British Airways as I do feel that they as passionate about tackling these types of issues.
