Cabin Crew

Hi Bryan,

Thanks for your great question - managing jet lag and looking after your skin are both essential parts of crew life, and I’m happy to share a few tips that have worked well for many of us.

Jet Lag Tips for Cabin Crew

Jet lag affects everyone differently, and what works for one person might not work for another. Some crew prefer to stay on UK time, while others adapt to local time straight away. Some find flying east harder, while others find it easier than flying west.

Personally, I really enjoy US trips especially the East Coast - as I tend to find I’m not too tired and can function pretty well. But again, it’s very personal and something you only really figure out with experience.

A few universal tips that tend to help:

  • Stay well hydrated - dehydration makes jet lag worse.
  • Avoid caffeine and alcohol close to rest times.
  • Get natural daylight as soon as you can after landing.
  • Power naps can help, but try to avoid sleeping too long during the day.
  • Sometimes, you just have to accept you’ll feel tired — and that’s okay!

Skincare for Male Cabin Crew

Cabin air can be really drying, so a simple routine makes a big difference:

  • Cleanse morning and night with a gentle face wash.
  • Moisturise daily, especially after flights - ingredients like hyaluronic acid or ceramides are great.
  • Use SPF, even on overcast days or while flying - UV rays are stronger at altitude.
  • If you want to go further, a night serum with niacinamide or retinol can help your skin look more refreshed.

And of course, travel-size versions are a must for layovers!

Hope that helps, Bryan - feel free to reach out if you want any more tips!

Thanks Dan, that is very helpful.

I may have a few questions as I am planning to apply when the next openings for cabin crew are available :-)
