Don't give up! You will face several challenges along the way, and you might have to settle at one point in your career with something that isn't really fulfilling to you. Learn from your experiences, and let them be a fuel for change. Believe in yourself and never let the willingness to follow your passion die. Take risks even if it means leaving the comfort zone and the security buffer. And most importantly, surround yourself with positive people, who will believe in you, see your potential and encourage you to jump into the unknown when you feel scared to do it. The reward is big, trust me!

Greatest achievements

I led a project where I automated the process of identifying flights that are not in line with our forecast. The project involved a lot of stakeholders, including other teams from our department, the data science team, as well as individual Revenue Delivery Executives within our team. I was responsible of designing the project, leading discussions with different stakeholders, as well as implementing and testing the codes. The process has brought in significant opportunities for additional revenue for our team, and has greatly increased the efficiency with which we action our set ups.

Let your personality shine - This is what will stand out to a potential employer. Other applicants may have just as much experience as you, but what they don’t have is your unique personality, so really bring that into your interview process. Do not let the job description scare you - it is ok to not tick all the boxes. Job descriptions are full of jargon and can be confusing to an outsider, do not let this put you off, if it is a role you think you are a match for, you are probably more than capable to perform in the role, and companies are likely to offer training to get you up to speed on the aspects you don’t yet have experience in. Don’t just be interviewed, do the interviewing – The potential employer want to ensure they are finding the right candidate, but you also need to be sure you are finding the right employer, don’t be afraid to ask questions and challenge the working environment. You spend most of your life at work, you need to be sure you are finding an environment that aligns with you personally. Be honest with yourself and the interviewer. A mantra of mine is to do a job you love. “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.” – Steve Jobs

This is especially for those that are still at school; I am often asked what subjects are best to take, to best set themselves up to become a Pilot. This is twofold, firstly, the subjects you love, will probably be the ones that keep you most engaged and likely to yield the best results. Secondly, the stereotypical idea of a Pilot being great at Maths and Physics is false - there are those of us that didn't go to University, that have had one, or even multiple careers previously. This is a job most consider for life, it is far more important to do something you enjoy than chase a dream you think you need to.
