career change into the aviation industry - do you consider people for jobs who are qualified in other areas?
Additional information
I am a fully qualified secondary teacher & middle leader. I have a first class honours degree but would like to make a career change into aviation following my dad’s footsteps. Would I ever be considered for an operations role and what can I do to boost my chances of achieving this career change?

Hi Emily, thank you for reaching out. Yes we have colleagues that join us from a variety of backgrounds, and welcome everybody to apply if they believe they have the experience to carry out a role. As a teacher you bring with you some great transferable skills that you could put into practice at British Airways. Stakeholder management, conflict resolution & communication to name just a few!
The beauty about British Airways is that there are jobs within almost every field. We have roles within the teaching/education field, such as roles within our Global learning academy or even in emerging talent, on-boarding graduates and apprenticeships. In terms of an operational role, my advice would be to sign up for our job alerts, and understand the key skills these roles require, ensure that you can showcase these skills even if in the capacity of teaching. Highlighting examples of the transferable skills you could bring to the role.
Good luck with your future applications!
